What we have learned...
January 2016 - New Year, New Month - We reviewed skills from the first semester, and have continued to work on comprehension skills. Independently checking assignments when finished and before turning in to be checked have also been emphasized!
Week of November 9-13
Reading and understanding what has been read both independently and in a small group has been the focus for this week.
Week of November 2-November 6
We have continued to read fiction and nonfiction selections. Questioning about the stories read are either oral or with written work, and the expectation is to answer in a complete sentence. With written work, the students are checking to make sure the answers are in complete sentences, as well as checking for capitals and correct punctuation!
Week of October 26-October 30
Comprehension has continued to be emphasized in our fourth grade FIT group.
Week of October 13-16 and October 19 & 20
We are reading short fiction and nonfiction selections and continuing to focus on comprehension. The spelling words consisted of homophones, so the students worked on understanding how to use words with the same pronunciation, but with different meanings!
Week of October 5-9
We are working on reading for understanding, and reinforcing the spelling rule for fourth grade
this week (adding the suffix es).
